ROUND SWISS — USCF-RATED TOURNAMENT

1. DATES & LOCATION

  •  SUNDAY, February 15 – Saturday, 2025
  •  LOCATION: SIMI VALLEY TEMPLE HALL 1925 Royal Ave, Simi Valley, CA

 

2. TOURNAMENT FORMAT:

  • TOURNAMENT FORMAT: INDIVIDUAL SWISS
  • TOTAL ROUNDS: 5
  • SCHOLASTIC SECTION          – U500, U800, 1200
  • NON USCF AMATEUR OPEN
  • ROUND TIME: 10:00AM, 11:30AM, 01:00AM, 2:30PM, 4:00PM 
  • TIME CONTROL: G30;D0  

 

3. BYES

  • Byes are available for Players in any round in case they cannot participate.

         But would like to stay in the Tournament. 

  • A Maximum of 2 Half-Point Byes can be requested in this tournament. 
  • Late Registrations will receive a Half-Point bye for any missed round up to a total of 1 Rounds. 
  • To Request a Bye after Registration, Please send email to LEARNINGPAWN@GMAIL.COM With NAME(Last, First) and USCF ID.

 

4. PRIZE

      Top 5 players will receive Trophies in each section.

 

5. REGISTRATION

  •  Onsite Registration: Saturday, February 15: 9:00 AM – 9:30 AM
  •  ENTRY FEE: Scholastic(U500, U800, U1200) – $50 BY February 12th  After that  $15 EXTRA.  
  •  Entry Fee Needs to send through zelle or paypal with ‘for friends and family’ option to learningpawn@gmail.com 
  •  Late Fee on the day of the tournament: $20
  •  10% of entry fee will be charged for all cancellations & refunds before .

6. ELIGIBILITY

  • Players Must have current US Chess Federation Membership.
  • Expiration date of their US Chess Membership must be later than the last day of the Tournament.

 7. TOURNAMENT RULES

  • Standard US CHESS RULES Apply.

  • Forfeit Time is 30 minutes. Please be considerate of your opponent, and don’t be late! Let us know if you can’t make it to one round!


8. FAQ

  • What Do the Time Controls Mean?

          The Time Controls tell you how much time you have for each game.
          For Example, G/30+0D means game in 30 minutes with a 0-second delay with each move. 
          This means  you get 30 minutes, your opponent gets 30minutes, and at each move 0 seconds are delayed to your clock.

  • How Many Games/Rounds?

          The 5SS before the time control means there are 5 rounds or five games a player can play in the tournament. 
          The tournaments are never elimination, so win or lose you can stay in the tournament.
